WHAT IS MAHA KALASH ABHISHEK

Maha Kalash Abhishek is a spectacular ceremony and one of the major highlights of any Janmasthami Festival program, in which persons who sponsor a kalash have a wonderful opportunity to directly bathe the deities of Radha and Krishna.

All the congregation members are cordially invited by the Temple to sponsor different kinds of Kalashes (small, big, medium, Gold or Silver, etc.) and take part in this wonderful Maha Abhishek ceremony of Radha Krishna Deities.

Each sponsored Kalash is used to bathe the Lord, and after the ceremony the Kalash is returned to the donor with Maha Prasadam inside, offered to Lord Krishna, and other gifts. The family of the donor is also welcome to take part in this ceremony as part of the sponsorship.
In case that a Kalash sponsor is unable to visit the temple during the actual Janmasthami celebrations, local Brahmins usually perform the Abhishek on the donor’s behalf.

There are many advantages of conducting such program during the Janmasthami festival:
